FAQ

Learn more about Mario Kart Live Home Circuit.

List of frequently asked questions.

How much space is needed to play?

Racing requires 10 x 11.5 feet of open space.

Can we race outside?

This product is for indoor use only.

Can I play on carpet or rugs?

The kart is designed to race across a variety of flat, indoor surfaces such as hardwood, laminate, tile, and short pile carpeting, so it’s possible to combine multiple different surface types in a single track. We recommend players avoid racing on carpets that have long fibers or heavily-textured designs, and that the floor is free of hair and other debris that could become entangled in the kart's wheels.

How do I connect my Nintendo Switch system to the kart?

You can sync your Nintendo Switch system with your karts within the Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit game available on the Nintendo eShop.

When you scan the QR code displayed in the game using the camera on the karts, the Nintendo Switch system and the karts become connected (paired).

Players control their karts on their Nintendo Switch system while watching the live video from the camera on the game screen. In Split Screen mode, two karts can race on one Nintendo Switch system (software update required).

Can I also play with Nintendo Switch Lite?

Yes, you can play using handheld mode with a Nintendo Switch Lite system.

Can I play on the TV screen?

Yes, you can play on the TV screen using a Nintendo Switch system or Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system. We recommend TV mode for players who want to watch together with their family on the TV screen.

The Nintendo Switch Lite system is only compatible with Handheld mode.

What is included in the set besides the kart?

Each set includes the kart, as well as 4 gates and 2 arrow signboards needed for creating the course. Visit the Buy Now section to see photos of what comes in each set.

Game download required and available as free download on Nintendo eShop.

Instructions on how to download it on your device via the Nintendo eShop are provided with your set. You can also download it to your device via the web here.

How many sets/systems are required for multiplayer?

Up to 4 players** can team up using one Nintendo Switch system and one Mario kart or Luigi kart by taking turns in Relay Race mode, or up to 4 players can race together using 4 Nintendo Switch systems and 4 Mario or Luigi karts (software update required). You can also race with 2 players, each with a Mario kart or Luigi kart, in Split Screen mode on a single Nintendo Switch system.

How do I charge the karts?

You can charge the karts using the included USB charging cable or using the Nintendo Switch AC Adapter.

When using the USB charging cable with a home electrical outlet, please use the Nintendo USB AC Adapter (sold separately).
